Under limited supervision, maintains and follows a safe, corrective maintenance program for operations relating to all carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing needs with in assigned buildings by receiving work orders; communicating with the Call Center and the supervisor. Duties include planning, inspecting, verifying, communicating, and problem solving assigned facility maintenance issues. Ensure that all facility systems are in safe working order and compliant with national and local codes while exhibiting professionalism in conduct, appearance, and work practices.
Assists with the coordination of the installation of new and modified maintenance related systems at the supervisor’s direction to include but not limited to reading blueprints, schematics, or drawings; consulting with University Project Managers, contractors, and sub-contractors to provide information on existing systems that may be affected during a project and advice on requirements for future construction projects; and troubleshooting new or newly modified systems to assure proper functioning of the system.Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions):
High school diploma and 4 years directly related trade experience.
Driver’s license required.Preferred Qualifications:
High School diploma and 4 years experience
in a commercial or residential trades occupation including but not limited to carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and/or plumbing with knowledge of national and local code requirements for trades area.
Preferred journeyman license or certification.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to develop and maintain strong customer service skills, maintain harmonious working relationship with departmental staff, work independently, and maintain functional awareness of typical hazards with in the work.Safety Sensitive or Security Sensitive:
