Post Doc Research Fellow - Bioinformatics/computational biology
A postdoctoral fellow position is currently available in the Singhal lab at School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), Department of Pathology, University of North Dakota (UND). Dr. Singhal's lab is integrating data from multi-omics platforms and formerly disparate sources into a unified network view of human health using statistical and machine learning approaches to reveal precise, personalized insights. His areas of expertise include data mining, statistical modeling, and artificial intelligence with a strong background in personalized medicine and cancer genomics. His research is extremely useful and informative in minimizing the side effects of systemic therapy, which will overcome the existing limitations of toxic manifestation, often encountered in conventional therapeutic interventions, such as chemotherapy, endocrine or hormonal therapy. He authored several high impact peer-reviewed scholarly articles in the field of clinical oncology that have been published in leading scientific journals, including, Nature Genetics, Nature communications, Nature communication biology, Journal of clinical oncology (JCO) and EMBO Molecular Medicine.

The University of North Dakota (UND) School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) is seeking qualified candidates for a post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Pathology.
1. This position will be responsible for:
Managing ongoing research requiring multi-omics data analysis in the Department of Pathology at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Providing comprehensive research activities such as the design and implementation of computational methods with advanced artificial inelegance and statistical analysis approach.
Directing computational analysis and development of algorithms to support research and development projects with collaborate investigators and others to bring issues to appropriate resolution.
Setting up infrastructure, developing pipelines and deploying tools for the bioinformatics analysis.
Preparing and presenting data and results.
Preparing and publishing scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
Developing new ideas, tools and algorithms that promote current research.This is a twelve (12) month, non-tenure track, special appointment.
PhD in genetics, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, computer science or related field.
At least one-year experience in conducting human genetics research and analyzing large genetic datasets, next generation sequencing.
Demonstrated desire to apply for external fellowship funding.
Six months or more experience and/or knowledge in analyzing of next-generation sequencing pipeline development.
Six months or more experience and or knowledge in the application of machine learning to biological data.
Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Expert with Perl, Python/R/Bash scripting.
Experience with SQL, Linux.
Demonstrated proficiency in database management.
Proficiency in statistical methods and analysis.
Documented skills in genome informatics, such as sequence processing, de novo and reference guided assembly, read mapping, gene annotation and discovery, and/or processing multi-omics datasets.
Extensive research experience/productivity with a solid publication record.
Excellent interpersonal, writing and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to successfully communicate scientific information.

Renumeration/Salary: $45,000+, commensurate with qualifications
