Job Summary


  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Georgia

  • 1 year management experience

  • 3 years of experience as a mental health nurse


  • Works with MH/MR Unit Director and Director of Nursing to coordinate all mental health nursing care for the MH/MR nurse team members.

  • Supervises the activities of the MH/MR nurse team members.

  • Assists in hiring, discipline and termination of MH/MR nurses.

  • Provides guidance to the MH/MR Unit Director and DON in assigning tasks to the MH/MR nurse team according to number of MH/MR missions and number of MH/MR nurses.

  • Coordinates assignments of MH/MR nurses.

  • Coordinates the orientation of all new MH/MR nurses.

  • Assesses training needs of MH/MR nurses and assures training in areas of deficit.

  • Prepares schedules as assigned while working with the DON to ensure coverage.

  • Works with DON to ensure coverage for the Crisis Stabilization Unit 24 hours per day and 7 days per week.

  • Works with DON to ensure medication administration and physical care activities occur appropriately with the MH/MR inmates.

  • Provides oversight through monitoring activities according to need, participation in CQI and prepares reports as requested by the MH/MR Unit Director and DON.

  • Provides additional staff support when needed in the delivery of direct care nursing duties according to the Mental Health Nurse Job Description.

Pay Grade: 11

Minimum Salary: $58,240

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
