Job Summary The School of Modern Languages at the Georgia Institute of Technology seeks to fill a one-year temporary, part-time staff position as an Event and Program Coordinator to conduct outreach activities related to Japanese culture. The employee will be expected to work 20 hours per week.

The successful candidate will coordinate and plan events and initiatives that seek to foster and enhance Japanese and local area relations and education including the Language and Business and Technology (LBAT) program and the School’s Global Media Festival, which will focus on United Nations Sustainability Development goal #16 in 2022: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. Specific planning will include corresponding with Japanese programs at academic institutions in Georgia and Japanese Universities; contacting and communicating with speakers; confirming and remitting payment for event costs; advertising events; and coordinating with partner institutions Atlanta Global Studies Center and Japan Foundation. The successful candidate will also developing promotional and recruitment materials and writing progress reports as required by the Japan Foundation.

Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience
Up to two years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications
    Advanced Japanese language skills; Authorization to work full-time in the United States; Familiarity with Japanese culture and Sustainable Development Goals Ability to work with a diverse population of students and coworkers

Proposed Salary

$25 - $30 an hour
