Scope of Job:
To perform advanced program administration, development and coordination in the Office of Faculty Success & Diversity and the Faculty Success & Diversity Council. Responsible for all phases of program development and coordination of program activities.


Description of Duties:
• Provides direct supervision of assigned office staff and oversight of daily operations in the Office of Faculty Success and Diversity.
• Manages the development and coordination of programs and event activities.
• Manages the writing and development of proposals for funding grants and/or conference presentations.
• Supports the university strategic planning process, including coordinating meetings, preparing minutes, maintenance of tracking dashboard for goals and metrics, webpage content management, and marketing/communication efforts.
• Coordinates and manages various initiatives under the supervision of the Faculty Success & Diversity Council.
• Develops effective communication strategies for large-scale projects/initiatives division wide.
• Leads and manages logistics required for the division, such as New Faculty Orientation, Faculty Excellence Awards, etc.
• Oversees and participates in the hiring, training, and evaluation of staff.
• Researches, drafts, prepares, reviews and edits highly sensitive presentations, publications, special reports, correspondence, and speeches.
• Consults, interacts, and collaborates with the Faculty Success & Diversity Council, faculty, other internal/external staff, and/or consultants to facilitate the successful implementation of new or revised policies, programs, and procedures.
• Provides statistical analysis of data as required to support administrative decision-making.
• Maintains familiarity with UT System Board of Regents’ Rules & Regulations and UTRGV’s HOP policies to allow for the advisement and support of administrative decision making.
• Researches, analyzes, provides advice and facilitates best methods and practices relative to the achievement of specified goals and operating objectives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.


Supervision Received:
General supervision from assigned supervisor.

Supervision Given:
Direct supervision of assigned staff.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

Preferred Education:
Master’s degree from an accredited university.

Licenses/Certifications:
None.

Required Experience:
Four (4) years of experience performing closely related duties, including program planning/coordination or related experience in the appropriate field of the program.

Equipment:
Use of personal computer and standard office equipment.


Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment across the Rio Grande Valley.

A New University with a Long History

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 in a historic move that brings together the resources and assets of UT Brownsville and UT Pan American and, for the first time, makes it possible for residents of the Rio Grande Valley to benefit from the Permanent University Fund—a public endowment contributing support to the University of Texas System and the Texas A&M University System.

 

Our new university will also be home to a School of Medicine and will transform Texas and the nation by becoming a leader in student success, teaching, research, and health care. UTRGV will enroll its first class in the fall of 2015, and the School of Medicine will open in 2016.

 

UT Brownsville and UT Pan American

The shared history of The University of Texas Pan American and The University of Texas at Brownsville goes back to 1927, when Edinburg College was founded. In 1973, Pan American opened a second campus in Brownsville, which later became an independent institution of The University of Texas System in 1991. Over the years, the missions and the identities of these great institutions have continually evolved to serve the communities of the Rio Grande Valley.

Now, the evolution and connection between these two institutions is coming full circle as UT Brownsville and UT Pan American are being established as a single, new university and medical school, with a single, new identity—The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
