Job Details

McPherson College seeks an Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities. This is a tenure-track appointment with a beginning date of 11 August 2021.

The Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities is responsible for developing and maintaining a high-level collegiate choral program as well as preparing and teaching a variety of music courses that make up the music theory, music history, and choral pedagogy portions of the music and music education degree programs. Developing and maintaining choral ensembles includes collaborating with college admissions in recruiting prospective music majors and choir members. This position might also include music direction for one musical theatre production each year.

The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for teaching excellence, enthusiasm for building a robust choral program, commitment to the liberal arts, and an affinity for working in the small college environment.

A master’s degree in choral music, successful experience in K-12 music education, and substantial choral conducting experience are required. A doctoral degree is preferred.

The Curriculum
Majors are offered in over 20 academic disciplines. Campus Life
