Job Summary

The position requires a high attention to detail and accuracy. This person will work closely with the Transfer Team to key transcripts and review data in Banner, scan/download documents to be uploaded to Xtender, file, double-check data, and assist with updating the Registrar website. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Required Qualifications

Applicant must have a 3.0 or higher GPA. Must be a current University of West Georgia student enrolled for six credit hours for fall and spring semesters, and type a minimum of 25 words per minute to qualify for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and direction, and ability to work collaboratively with the team to complete job assignments. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to listen and resolve issues effectively with sound business sense and judgment. Strong computer, data entry, and clerical skills. Experience maintaining confidentiality and handling highly sensitive and personal information with discretion and sound judgment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Basic computer knowledge, data entry skills keying a minimum of 25 words per minute, and previous experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Conditions of Employment

Must be able to sit for long periods of time at a computer. May be asked to run occasional errands.

Other Information

The Transfer Team FWS student assistant serves as an active members of the Registrar’s Office Transfer Team, where they review, build, and key transfer student transcript data into Banner. They assist with running periodic reports, analyzing data in Microsoft Excel, team projects, reviewing Xtender student files for accuracy, assisting with preparing for Transfer Orientation and Commencement, and various other types of clerical duties. Student assistants on the Transfer Team develop typing, time management, and organizational skills. They learn the importance of university policies, procedures, and how important 100% accuracy is concerning entering data into the student database program. Student assistants will develop office etiquette through interacting with the Registrar staff, campus partners, and occasionally the student body, along with learning to be a part of a team. Student workers will be given the opportunity to display dependability and good judgment throughout employment with our office through advancement in responsibility.

FWS Student Assistant I positions include standard, routine duties which require minimal prior training or experience. Most often, FWS Student Assistant I positions work with other students and are frequently supervised. This position does require the candidate to have Federal Work Study.
