Job Summary

Resident Advisers at BYU-Hawaii play a key role as student leaders for our on campus residents. Responsibilities include: program development, organizing events, mediating conflict, serving our students, creating a safe and inclusive living environment and maintaining cleanliness in the Hales.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ability to problem solve, contribute to a team, resolve conflict, document thoroughly and communicate effectively.

  • Lead programs each semester, within committees, that are in alignment with the Residential Life Programming Model to support learning and growth with in the Residential Life environment.

  • Expected to work between 17-19 hours.

  • Responsible for the health, safety and well-being of residents in the dorm.

  • Maintain cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the Hale's, performing clean checks, teaching and training students about cleaning.

  • Respond to emergencies in the Hale's that including medical or emotional emergencies.

  • Attend a mandatory leadership training class that is held weekly in addition to team meetings and one on one meetings with your Hale Coordinators.

  • RA's contract schedules begin approximately 1 week prior to the beginning of each semester and end approximately 1 week after the end of the semester. Fall Semester RA's are required to begin work approximately 3 weeks prior to when the semester begins.

  • RA's receive a housing stipend that increases with experience and are considered student leaders on campus. As such you are expected to represent the honor code at all times and maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA

  • Adapted to be virtual during COVID 19. Responsible for supporting students who may need isolating during Pandemic

Required work dates for Spring Semester April 21st- 18th and June 26th -July 1st 2021. Black out dates are mandatory working days and correlate with the RA housing stipend.

Work Location

In Person, Required to live in the Hales.
