Position Highlights:

The University of Arizona's Parking and Transportation Services department is seeking a qualified candidate to fill their Accountant II position. This role asks the following of the employee:

  • Perform accounting tasks of a difficult nature, requiring an experienced, professional knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Reconcile more complex accounts and check the accuracy of journal entries to ensure that the general ledger is accurate and complete
  • Review the preparation of various financial statements, records and reports compiled by lower level accounting support personnel
  • Recommend changes to the Department processes and procedures to improve internal control, efficiency, and effectiveness
  • Interview, train and supervise student employees
  • Review student employees performance and provide feedback

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Collect, compile, verify and analyze complex monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports
    • Provide technical accounting advice within area of expertise to functional or operational area managers to help them develop revenue and expense budgets, understand financial reports, and manage their financial responsibilities
    • Perform difficult and complex accounting entries for corrections, adjustments, allocations and transfers
    • Reconcile monthly journal entries to ensure accounting transactions are recorded in accordance with General Accounting Principles and Standards
    • Oversee and approve work of student employees
    • Analyze, reconcile and resolve discrepancies to maintain complete and accurate general ledger accounts
    • Review and approve billing documents
    • Serve as Primary Account Delegate for department to approve financial transactions
    • Approve employees' timesheets
    • Additional duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required
    • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required
