Salary Information:

Starting salary: $64,919 (work experience and meeting the desired qualifications listed may be considered in setting a salary above the minimum)

Job Summary:

Provide health and wellness information, evaluation and education to DMACC students and employees.

Essential Functions:

Provide health information and programs to students, faculty and staff in informal and formal settings, autonomously or in conjunction with the Athletics, Student Services, Recreation and Wellness Program.

Provide health evaluation for minor injuries and illnesses; make OTC recommendations and/or referrals; and facilitate health evaluation of students by off site care provider.

With administration, coordinate department budget, purchases, inventory of supplies and equipment and data collection; conduct hiring, training and payroll for work study students; maintain and coordinate first aid and AED equipment.

Educate, counsel and motivate DMACC employees and students to make positive, wellness-based lifestyle changes by offering specific data based activities in an effort to improve the quality of life and decrease health related issues and insurance claims.

Provide vaccination protocol information to students enrolled in health, and fitness programs. Administer vaccinations per protocol. Reviews protocols annually in conjunction with Iowa Department of Health and adjust when necessary.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

RN degree from an accredited nursing program.

A minimum of two years of fitness/wellness programming experience and a degree or significant coursework in Community Health Education or other Exercise

Science/Wellness program of study.

Certified in first aid, AED and CPR procedures.

Available to travel across the community-college district on a regular basis.

Experience presenting educational information to large and small groups.

Experience consulting clients with nutrition, disease management and disease prevention issues.

Knowledge of immunization recommendations for adults.

Strong communication skills.

Ability to plan, organize and manage time.

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from diverse backgrounds.

Knowledge of current software applications.

Desired Qualifications:

School nurse, emergency room, occupational or industrial nursing experience.

Experience teaching fitness or training clients.

Certified fitness instructor or personal trainer, certified by one of the following: ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA.

Able to provide blood borne pathogen training to DMACC employees.

Experience in programming health fairs, health risk assessments, preventative medical screenings or other health and wellness related programming.

Experience and commitment to working with diverse student populations.
