Duties/Responsibilities:

Client/Patient Direct Services and Support Services: Provision of primary (mental health outreach), secondary, and tertiary counseling services to eligible members of the UGA community within the CAPS scope of service. Performs initial consultation evaluations (routine, urgent, and crisis) based on the referring problem. Evaluations focus on arriving at a preliminary diagnosis, an integrated treatment plan, or appropriate referral. Provide consultation within the legal boundaries of release-of-information. Consistent with UHC & CAPS Policy & Procedure manuals, develop idiosyncratic treatment plan based on an investigation of empirically supported treatment options, make appropriate referrals, and accurately document treatment provided. Potentially provide clinical supervision for professional students in training.

Position Summary:

This position is designed for individuals who are interested in meeting the requirements for licensure in the State of Georgia and working in a multi-disciplinary university health center with a focus on clinical service to students. Responsibilities include providing individual (short-term) and group psychotherapy, walk-in and brief evaluation, diagnosis, and referral to appropriate resources, crisis intervention, outreach, consultation, and after-hours on-call service. The 2021-2022
Clinical Resident position is a one-year appointment designed to facilitate licensure as a Psychologist in the state of
Georgia.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position:

One-year experience in a college or university counseling or mental health setting.
Background working with students from diverse, traditionally underserved, and/or marginalized backgrounds (e.g., students of color, LGBTQIA+, international students, first generation students, low SES, rural).
Background and familiarity with accreditation (JC, APA, IACS) requirements and standards.
Competence and background in using an electronic health record.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies :

Skill with disorders typically seen at a university counseling service.
Competence and background in a multidisciplinary setting.
Knowledge or interest in mental health outreach programming.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Physical Demands:

Standing, typing, walking limited distances, moving from sitting to standing frequently, and sitting for extended periods. Computer work. Minimal pushing/pulling, bending, squatting and kneeling.
