Educational and Experience Requirement:

Associates Degree in related field. Three years relevant administrative assistant experience or experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

Performs advanced administrative assistant duties for the Department of Political Science.

Primary Responsibilities:

Performs advanced administrative assistant duties. Communicates departmental and university information to students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Compiles, tracks, and reviews data and reports for graduate and undergraduate programs. Supports application, course registration, comprehensive examination, and graduation processes employed by graduate programs. Prepares, reviews, revises, files, and distributes forms, memorandums, correspondence, and other documentation. Attends department and program meetings and takes minutes and notes. Assists in developing and interpreting policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Specifications:

Requires a general knowledge of standard office functions. Requires good knowledge of procedures and practices. Must be able to use standard office software, particularly Excel. Must possess professional written and verbal communication skills and be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences. Must be detail oriented, action oriented, and possess collaborative skills that facilitate positive outcomes. Must be able to apply policies and procedures and solve routine problems of a repetitive nature.
