Position Summary:

The Florida Atlantic University Department of English is seeking a full-time Instructor, half-time to teach courses in composition and literature contingent upon funding and half time as the Assistant Director of the University Center for Excellence in Writing (UCEW). This is a non-tenure earning appointment on a nine-month renewable contract. Teaching load is 2/2.


The UCEW responsibility is to manage most of the day-to-day operations of the UCEW. This Instructor is responsible for hiring new consultants in collaboration with the director, processing contracts, training new consultants, building and maintaining the schedule each term, helping run the bi-weekly staff meetings, managing the outreach team to faculty, keeping the Canvas site and UCEW website up to date, ordering supplies, and problem solving with consultants and clients. Minimum Qualifications:

Masters of Arts - English Language and Literature, General from an accredited institution required by time of application.

Must have at least two years of writing center experience, with some administrative experience preferred.

Must be personable, self-directed, and efficient.

Prior to appointment, the candidate must submit official, sealed transcripts from all institutions where graduate coursework was attempted, whether or not a degree was obtained, as well as an original NACES evaluation, if applicable. Transcripts must be issued to Florida Atlantic University not to you as the student.

A background check will be required for the candidate selected for this position. This position is subject to funding.
