The Department of Pediatrics, Section of General Pediatrics has an opening for a full-time Assistant Professor.

Nature of Work:

This description is a summary only and is describing the general level of work being performed, it is not intended to be all-inclusive. This is an Assistant Professor MD level position involving clinical work in an outpatient setting, which includes teaching responsibilities for clinical trainees. This position will also conceptualize and implement integrated clinical services/specialized clinic for children and youth in foster care and partner with the Kempe Center/Section of Child Abuse and Neglect to expand access to clinical services for at-risk children and youth throughout the region. We are looking for an energetic, open-minded provider who can succeed in working with a diverse and underserved patient population.

Examples of Work Performed:

Clinical:

• Serve as primary care provider for a specified panel of patients in the Child Health Clinic, which serves as a medical home for over 10,000 low income children.

• Manage well visits, follow-up visits, care coordination, chronic illness, and treatment of minor and acute illnesses.

• Serve as a “pod attending” providing care for patients on own panel, same day sick visits for other providers and manage walk-ins and overbook requests.

• Serve as the doctor of the day which includes being available to answer questions from triage nurses, sign medication refills and field other patient requests.

• Primarily works M-F daytime hours, with evening coverage, as needed.

• Cover after-hours call approximately 4 weeks per year from home.

• Patient documentation to be completed during administrative time.

Teaching:

• Contribute to the education of trainees by teaching and supervising the patient care of students and fellows, leading didactic educational sessions and providing feedback to trainees on their performance.

Partnership with Kempe Center:

The provider will work with the Kempe Center to expand Colorado’s CARENetwork through Children’s Hospital Colorado's multi-state region.

• Develop and implement campaigns to engage new audiences to adapt to program initiatives.

• Manage and cultivate local and regional partnerships to leverage existing resources to enhance program work.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $126,349 to $163,200.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

• MD or DO

• Board certification or eligibility in Pediatrics.

• Experience teaching learners in a clinical environment, including medical students, advanced practice providers, pediatric and family medicine residents.

• One-year experience providing primary care in an outpatient setting.

• One-year clinical experience with children with medical complexity.

• One-year experience leading a multi-disciplinary team.

Conditions of Employment:

Must successfully pass a 10-panel drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado

Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and sex-offender background check

Preferred Qualifications:

• Significant clinical experience with families from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities
• 5 + years of clinical and teaching experience in a pediatric outpatient environment.
• 5+ years of clinical and teaching experience in a pediatric primary care location.
• Clinical experience in an academic setting.
• Clinical experience managing children that have experienced trauma including child abuse cases and history of interacting with county/state organizations.
• Fluency in Spanish
• Emerging track record of educational or clinical scholarship.
