Job Description:

Sarah Lawrence College invites applications for a half-time one-year visiting position in Philosophy to begin in fall 2021. The successful candidate will teach two courses during the academic year (one course each semester). The candidate should specialize in at least one of the following fields: critical race theory and decolonial theory and have competence in the other field as well as in the history of philosophy.

Application materials must include:
•One-page cover letter addressing your teaching experience in the relevant fields.
•Curriculum vitae.
•One or two sample syllabi of courses related to the position (i.e., decolonial theory and critical race theory).
•Course evaluations.
•One recommendation letter, if possible, addressing teaching.

Sarah Lawrence is a co-educational liberal arts college with a unique pedagogy which incorporates individual and small group tutorials in addition to regular classes. Candidates must have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and to the development of the research, writing and analytical skills of their students.

Required Qualifications:

•PhD in Philosophy (or a related field); we will consider candidates who have achieved ABD status.
•College level teaching experience.
•Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching.
