Department Summary:

Administrative Information Technology Services’ unique role in accomplishing the University’s mission is to provide the primary university-wide, shared resources of computing hardware, software, data and voice communications, and professional personnel on campus.
The Administrative Information Technology Services department is called upon to provide computing and electronic communications resources when it can do so more effectively or more efficiently than separate units.

Position Overview:

This position will provide support for desktops, printers, networked devices, and other computing efforts by the Administrative Information Technology Services team. This position will also assist the Cross Function IT Support Supervisor with monitoring servers, technology deployment, and system administration responsibilities. This position will have direct day to day coordination with vendors working in conjunction with the department IT infrastructure. This position will be directly involved with deploying and supporting desktops and users. This position will serve in an operational capacity for systems provisioned by AITS that will provide resources to the campus. community.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate’s Degree in related field and four years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department.
• Knowledge of principles of computing and communications networks, and
characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed
environment.
• Ability to operate computer keyboards and to install computer hardware.
• Ability to assimilate, retain and utilize technical and applications-oriented
information.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday 8-5 with flexing as need for events.

Physical Requirements:

Kneeling, Lifting up to 50 pounds, Pulling , Pushing, Reaching, Sitting, Squatting, Stooping, Bending, Standing, Twisting, Walking, Writing, Grasp, Talk or Hear

o:

Provide device support and management for systems within the supported area. Proactively address issues and respond to connectivity failures in a prompt manner.

o:

Provide desktop support, IT deployment service, and end-user training for area of responsibility. Build new desktops according to AITS standards. Monitor warranty status to keep departments apprised for lifecycle planning.

o:

Assist the Cross Funct IT Support Supervisor with backup restores, server maintenance, and IT planning.

o:

Assist the Cross Funct IT Support Supervisor with Active Directory and Group Policy.

o:

Fulfill operational documentation duties for servers, desktops, and other devices within the support spectrum of the primary duties of this position. Keep the Cross Funct IT Support Supervisor appraised on all the operational documentation changes by ensuring the availability of said documentation.

o:

Supervise, mentor, and train subordinates in the normal course of support of users/desktops and servers.

o:

Assist the Cross Funct IT Support Supervisor in ensuring proper firewall and security operations for all systems within the primary area. Follow best practices guidelines to ensure security of all IT assets, including immediate installation of highly critical security patches or ensuring that proper workarounds are implemented.. Work with the ITSS Information Security team to ensure proper security procedures.

o:

Study current trends and complete assigned trainings.

o:

Ensure special project and non-recurring assignments are carried out in professional and expeditious manner and with an acceptable level of quality, working with other internal teams and vendor support as necessary for a successful implementation.

o:

Other projects/tasks/duties as assigned by the Cross Funct IT Support Supervisor, Cross Funct IT Support Manager, or Sr IT Support Manager.

o:

Will be working in outside environments, with potential exposure to elements, bugs, heat, cold, and inclement weather.

o:

Working environment can be noisy at times, and work will be done in crowds of people.

o:

May involve walking and/or standing for extended periods of time.

o:

Some job tasks will be performed via ladders, working at heights, or crawling under tables/desks.
