Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an entry-level OPS Desktop Support Assistant to join Academic Technology, Technology Support Services (AT-TSS), a unit within UFIT.

Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other employees dedicated and focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.

This position reports directly to the IT Supervisor managing the AT-TSS Workspace Support Northeast Team.

Primarily responsible for managing and supporting a subset of the ~2200 computers supported by UFIT on and around the University of Florida Campuses.

Standard duties include:

  • Manual labor in the transport and setup of PCs
  • Installing operating systems and software
  • Performing preventative maintenance
  • Identifying problems
  • Cleaning virus/malware infections
  • Performing troubleshooting

The person in the position must possess the following:

  • Ability to maintain documentation for procedures
  • Exhibit effective customer service skills
  • Ability to learn and retain technical skills
  • A desire to learn and grow with possibilities of advancement within UFIT, or the greater UF community

Expected Salary:

$10.50-$12.50 per hour; commensurate based on education and experience. In addition, the University of Florida offers a very competitive benefits package.

High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and skills:

  • Valid driver's License
  • Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to move under and around desks and other furniture
  • Exhibit effective customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to work collegially and interact effectively with a diverse constituency.
