Job Overview

The Program Assistant will provide critical administrative and coordination support to the Project Directors, Project Faculty, and Staff on the Head Start National Center Health, Behavioral Health and Safety (NCHBHS) in the Center for Child & Human Development (CCHD, which is a federally funded center providing training and technical assistance to Head Start and Early Head Start programs in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. territories, and American Indian and Alaska Native and Migrant and Seasonal Head Start communities. The NCHBHS's consortium of multidisciplinary experts will support Head Start and Early Head Start programs in enhancing the well-being of over 1 million young children and families in low-income communities. As a member of the NCHBHS team, the Program Assistant will provide overall program support which would include but not be limited to: travel arrangements, reimbursements and expense reports, assist with development of PowerPoint and training material preparation, technical support associated with multimedia instruction, literature searches, copying and shipping training materials, scheduling meetings, and assisting with reporting requirements. In addition, the Program Assistant will support the social media activities of the grant, working in collaboration with the Program Coordinator to ensure that program activities are disseminated through Head Start specific, and customary social media platforms. The Program Assistant may provide limited administrative and programmatic support for other CCHD projects and centers. The Program Assistant will serve as the first point of contact for both the GUCCHD and the NCHBHS.

Work Interactions

The Program Assistant will report directly to the GUCCHD Administrator and will receive programmatic direction from the Project Director of the NCHBHS. The NCHBHS is a one of four national centers funded to provide training and technical assistance to Head Start and Early Head Start. There is a high-level impact to the reputation of this national center, correspondence and interactions must meet standards of professionalism and reflect the mission of Georgetown's programs. This position will interface with project faculty, staff of grant- or contract- funded projects that support Head Start and Early Head Start. The Program Assistant will also participate and attend Center-wide and project centered meetings.

Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree, with progressive administrative experience of 2-4 years, proficiency in office, presentation and project management software and social media (e.g. MS Office, Google Suite, Adobe, Webex, Zoom, Smartsheets, etc.), strong written and oral communication and research skills. Experience with organizing events or meetings. Must have ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to deal effectively and professionally with a variety of individuals.
