The Application Developer in the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) will design and implement solutions to facilitate business processes.

Job Description

The Application Developer will design and implement solutions to facilitate business processes in Penn Engineering. Work directly with vendors, University staff, and consultants to develop cloud-based and local solutions for SEAS faculty, staff, and students. Integrate solutions with external and University services, such as data warehouse, AWS, Shibboleth, PennGroups, PennCash, and vendor APIs. Identify and investigate potential technologies to solve business problems. Optimize systems performance through use of reporting and analysis tools. Manage resources, including server requirements for production, development, and testing environments. Analyze existing solutions and design and implement improvements. Participate in off-hours on-call rotation. Represent Penn Engineering on University technical committees.

• Design, code, simulate, test, implement and maintain application software, and associated middleware, interfaces and databases.
  
• Evaluate vendor-delivered software to meet client requirements. Develop application software to make vendor-delivered solutions meet Penn Engineering business needs.
  
• Work with clients or other IT analysts to determine functional requirements.
  
• Monitor and administer applications, providing technical and application support.
  
• Ensure adherence to technical, quality assurance, data integrity, and security standards.
  
• Plan, organize, and manage small projects.
  

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year of programming or systems analysis experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An understanding of programming languages, user interfaces, integration methods, and development lifecycles. Demonstrated competence in systems analysis and design and the ability to quickly learn and apply technologies
