Assistant Paint Shop Supervisor - University Housing Maintenanc

Regular Full-time, Market Range 06

This Position assists the Paint Shop Supervisor in coordinating and overseeing paint shop projects and serves as the paint crew team leader.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Determine sequence of painting operations, methods used, type and amount of materials needed, and special types of equipment needed; Protect and move furniture and other items from areas where painting and finishing work will occur; Repair, prepare, and apply finish coats to a variety of surfaces including masonry, drywall, wood, and plaster. 

Serve as team leader for the paint crew; Assist in the coordination of work to be performed in painting of facilities; Provide technical guidance and direction to painting personnel; Inspect completed work and direct re-work or modifications as needed.

Maintain records of time and materials used for billing/budget purposes.



Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

A high school diploma and 4 years experience in surface repair, preparation, and finishing techniques and standards; Strong verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work within tight deadlines and schedules; Ability to work with diverse customer and employee bases; Ability to effectively to plan and direct the activities of others.
