The Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University brings together a team of basic science researchers, clinicians, radiation oncologists, nurse navigators and patient support staff to create a community fostering innovation and care focused on improving the lives of our patients. This team approach is focused on patients across the state of Georgia and neighboring states providing access to more first-in-the-nation clinical trials, world-renowned experts and a multidisciplinary approach that keeps the patient at the center of care. Research at the Georgia Cancer Center’s M. Bert Storey Research Building focuses on the most promising pathways for the prevention and treatment of cancer. Several of our researchers are involved with investigator-initiated clinical trials, transitioning their research into the clinic.
This Assistant Professor position will be a full member of the Georgia Cancer Center with primary appointment to the Georgia Cancer Center and will be in the Cancer Prevention, Control & Population Health (CPC&PH) Program. Research will be the primary responsibility/focus. Teaching/Education and Service commitments are also an expectation. The position is expected to work with a multidisciplinary team and address cancer health disparities and inequities among at-risk populations. Full participation in the Georgia Cancer Center and CPC& PH Program activities is expected.
Must have a doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, MD/PhD) in health sciences field from an accredited college or university.
DrPH, PhD in Nursing, Psychology, Social Behavioral Sciences, Epidemiology, or other health-related doctorate. Prior experience in community engagement and recruiting community and minority/underserved populations is very desirable. An interest in social determinants of health’s, addressing cancer health disparities and inequities, and with a focus on community-based participatory research.
Academic rank, tenure status and salary to be commensurate with qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
