The Post-doctoral Fellow will be expected to maintain the necessary training in research with animal models and with patients. The necessary Web-based Training is not a pre-requisite, but could be completed upon initiation of the position.

Physical Requirements:

Lifting pulling or pushing 30 lbs.

Shift:

40 hours per week. Mostly days, some evenings and weekends.

Job Summary:

Dr. Fraser in the Center for Advanced Translational Stroke Science (CATSS) is looking for a post-doctoral fellow interested in developing skills in translational research. The Postdoctoral fellow will lead and participate in research aimed at translating experiments and findings between animal models and clinical patient registries for stroke. Through the post-doctoral training experience, the individual will learn about submission and maintenance of IRB protocols, clinical registry design and database-building. The individual will work with basic science faculty in collaboration to design animal model experiments to explore clinical findings. The post-doctoral fellow will work with a laboratory manager to lead the animal model team, and collaborate with faculty in the stroke animal model core facility. The post-doctoral fellow will be expected to draft and submit intramural and extramural grant applications in collaboration with Dr. Fraser and other research faculty in CATSS.

The Post-doctoral Fellow will be expected to apply for and participate in the TL1 Predoctoral Professional Student Clinical and Translational Science Training Program (https://www.ccts.uky.edu/education-training/career-development-and-training-programs/tl1-clinical-translational-science-0), which will provide additional training in Fundamentals of Clinical Research, Grant-Writing, Biostatistics, and Clinical Research Ethics.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:

The successful Post-doctoral Fellow will have a background in surgical animal model research, preferably with some experience in stroke models.
