Summary:
Under the direction of the Summer School Program Director at Geffen Academy at UCLA, the Educator will create this course of study, prepare materials, and deliver an excellent summer Ceramics enrichment course for the Geffen Academy's secondary school students. The Educator will teach one section of students, grades 6-11. The course will be up to four (4) hours long, over a three (3) week period.The courses will be taught in-person on Geffen Academy's campus. Educators should be prepared to also teach students who may be attending the class remotely via Zoom. Job Duties:
Consistent with the department's goals participate in the design and development of curricula that develops a creative and innovative mindset and joy in the Geffen Academy's students.
Build a creative program for secondary school students in areas such as, but not limited to: creative thinking, meta cognition, 3Dart, and ceramics.
Support students in a dynamic process of project planning and execution of created curriculum, including hands-on opportunities for students to express themselves through multiple mediums and modalities.
Consistent with department leadership's direction, collaborate with other faculty in creation of an Academy program that meets the need and interests of the Academy's students.
Communicate information about student progress to relevant student services colleagues, including but not limited to Summer School Director, Dean of Students, academic advising and college guidance staff, Registrar, counselor, and athletic team coaches
Supervise lunch transition (~30 minutes) to the afternoon course.
