Under the direction of the Summer School Director at Geffen Academy at UCLA, the Educator will create this course of study, prepare materials, and deliver an excellent summer Athlete Conditioning enrichment course for the Academy's secondary school students. The Educator will teach up to two courses, one course designed for students entering grades 6-8 and a second course designed for students entering grades 9-12. Classes are 2 hours long, over a three (3) week period. The courses will be taught in-person on Geffen Academy's campus. Job Duties:

  • Create and implement an interactive experience that fosters a student's understanding of physical fitness and nutrition, designed for enhancement of a student's dedicated sport(s).
  • Create fun exercise and stretching workouts to engage and challenge students to reach short term goals.
  • Engage students in real-world functional fitness and bodyweight exercises.
  • Encourage and support to reach their goals, both short and long-term.
  • Provide opportunities for peer-to-peer interaction and friendly competition.
  • Create opportunities for students to practice their skills, thinking and analysis.
  • Create a learning environment where students feel safe, welcome, and challenged.
  • Communicate information about student progress to relevant student services colleagues, including but not limited to department head, Dean of Students, academic advising and college guidance staff, Registrar, and counselor/psychologist.
