Departmental Overview

The Department of Nutritional Sciences & Toxicology (NST) focuses on the metabolic biology of nutrients and toxicants in relation to human health and disease.

Our research and curriculum span a breadth of topics, from the delivery of nutrients to mammalian cells and their molecular functions, through the influence of genetics on diet-associated human disease, to programs and policies that address human and environmental health and safety.

This position will provide support to the David Moore laboratory, including both ordering and inventory control of general laboratory supplies, management of mouse colony, and basic biology experiments.

Responsibilities
  • Management of routine laboratory supplies including ordering and maintenance of inventory
  • Management of mouse colony including genotyping and maintaining census records of mouse strains
  • Carrying out and documenting routine biology experimentation, including handling of mice and procedures such as measuring body weight and collecting and harvesting samples including tissues and blood. Also routine preparation and analysis of RNA and proteins from tissues and other samples.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience with ordering and management of routine biology laboratory supplies
  • Experience with handling mice and with analysis of gene expression at the RNA and protein levels
  • Basic understanding of biology and biological systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology or appropriate related field and/or equivalent experience/training

Salary & Benefits

This is a monthly paid (exempt) position. Annual salary will be commensurate with experience (stepped rates).
