Compensation and Benefits
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,304 per month
Full classification Salary Range: $4,304 - $6,120 per month
- This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.
- Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.
The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Under general supervision, the Financial Aid Counselor will perform moderately complex professional financial aid work that typically requires the application of both knowledge and professional judgment in applying the principles, techniques, standards, guides and professional skills characteristic of the financial aid programs. Requires planning; interviewing and counseling techniques; judgment to recommend solutions to problems and changes in financial aid program procedures; and acting as spokesperson within the areas of expertise. Provide professional and technical support to the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office staff. Frequent direct contact with a multi-ethnic campus population of students, faculty, staff, parents, members of the community, and affiliated agencies. Maintain a thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to financial aid programs. It also requires the use of professional judgment and the application of professional skills in a variety of situations.
- Two or more years of professional experience in financial aid office strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of the practices, procedures and activities of financial aid and scholarship programs
- Thorough knowledge federal, state and institutional financial aid regulations, policies and procedures
- High level of independent problem solving, active decision making, and judgement
- Ability to rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions and programs of Fresno State

Education and Experience
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university preferably in a related field of study
- Two years of professional experience in financial aid or related student service program
- A Master's Degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience
