The Department of Government invites qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Department Chair, and part of a team of two administrators, this position manages all academic aspects of the Government Department to include Chair and faculty support for over forty (40) full-time, visiting, and adjunct faculty members.
In addition, the Administrative Coordinator is responsible for handling the department’s main office by maintaining the academic schedule, managing the department’s website, organizing events (i.e., guest lectures, Commencement), cooperating with the department’s other administrator to supervise student assistants, assisting in faculty recruitment and on-boarding, and managing records. This position works as liaison with multiple units on campus such as the Registrar’s Office, Dean of Arts & Sciences Office, Facilities Management, Information Technology, and other academic departments, especially departments and programs in Tyler Hall (i.e., Economics, Public Policy, and International Relations).Required Qualifications:
•High school graduate or equivalent
•Working knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
•Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, to include Outlook calendar.
•Demonstrated experience in managing multiple calendars, preferably using an automated calendaring system.
•Knowledge of procurement & purchasing policies and procedures.
•Demonstrated ability to interpret, apply and communicate a variety of policies and restrictions.
•Strong oral and written communication skills.
•Must be detail oriented and have the ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast paced environment.
•Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Experience working in a higher education office environment.
•Knowledge of general hiring practices and procedures.
•Working knowledge of personnel processes for instructional faculty (i.e., promotion,tenure review, merit, etc.).
•Prior experience working with Banner, Discoverer, Cascade, and Event Management System (EMS)
•Experience maintaining web pages, group calendars, and/or listservs.
