Minimum Qualifications:Requires are least a high school diploma or equivalent. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Position Summary:This is responsible police work at the corporal level at the university.
Work involves professional response to the need for enforcing laws and university regulations. Work also involves preventing, investigating, and detecting crimes, and the apprehension of criminals. Work is performed in accordance with department rules and regulations and may be performed in uniform or plain clothes. Employee allocated to this class of work must be assigned to a specialized function which involves knowledge and abilities usually acquired through experience on the force. Guidance and direction are provided to subordinate law enforcement personnel. Work involves dedication to public service often made difficult by emotional or physical stress of events. Work is reviewed through conferences, written reports, inspections, and observation of results obtained.
Physical Demands:This position is that of a police officer and employees in this position will be exposed to hazardous situations. Employees in this position will be required to work outside at times in extreme and inclement weather.

Duties/Responsibilities:Patrols a designated area of campus in a patrol car to preserve law and order, to prevent and discover the commission of crimes, and to enforce traffic regulations.
Takes charge of and guides and directs the work of subordinate law enforcement personnel in various situations until relieved by superior officer.
Answers calls and complaints involving fire, traffic or other accidents, robberies, and other misdemeanors and felonies and takes necessary police action.
Investigates crimes against persons and property; interviews victims and witnesses; searches for and evaluates evidence; arrests person or persons suspected of crime.
