JOB SUMMARY:

Serves as community liaison for one or more NIA-funded studies recruiting older adult research participants. Responsible for ensuring all recruitment, retention and diversity goals throughout study enrollment period are met. Serves as the public and media relations coordinator for assigned project(s). Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

40% - Essential - Facilitates recruitment, enrollment and retention of older adult research participants including engaging African Americans/Blacks and other under served populations who are at high risk for cognitive decline and dementia.

40% - Essential - Develops, organizes and implements community outreach activities, public relations and speaking events, and community advisory board meetings. Develop and maintain relationships with media and other community organizations and partners such as social groups, medical facilities, community centers, libraries, and other outlets. May need to travel to recruitment events, pick up and deliver study materials, or other needed study travel.

10% - Essential - Mobilizes research personnel to ensure implementation of marketing plan for successful enrollment and retention. Troubleshoots accomplishing goals. May assist with recruitment material preparation, social media presence, and website development.

5% - Essential - Assists with other research duties as needed including telephone screening for eligibility, testing of study participants, and administration of interventions.

5% - Essential - Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree
Work Exp 1+ year(s) of sales, advertising, media, public relations and/or marketing experience

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Master's Degree (Communications, Marketing or Public Relations)
Work Exp 1+ year(s) running social media campaigns, recruiting diverse research populations or experience in the Upstate aging services network

RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB KNOWLEDGE
Firm Job Knowledge - Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises Student Workers only - Supervises Student workers only

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.
