The Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and Unity Health Toronto – St. Michael’s Hospital are seeking applications for the Schroeder Chair in Advanced Neurovascular Interventions at St. Michael’s Hospital-Unity Health Toronto. The successful candidate must currently hold a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor and an Active Staff appointment at Unity Health Toronto – St. Michael’s Hospital. Applicants must also be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

This is a five-year, joint University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital term chair. The tentative start date of this appointment is May 1, 2021.

The successful candidate will be responsible for advancing the universally utilized imaging-based technologies required in Endovascular Neurosurgery. The successful applicant will also be able to lead a program of research that will have global impact in endovascular device development, robotic endovascular technology and therapies and biological systems. In addition, experience in clinical studies investigating underlying cerebrovascular disease and clinical outcomes is desirable.

Applicants will be evaluated by an Appointments Committee according to University of Toronto and St. Michael’s Hospital Policies. Consideration will be given to the applicant’s record of scholarly activity (including grants, peer-reviewed publications, record of program development, collaborations with organizations nationally and internationally, supervision of graduate students and fellows).

The Chair will support academic activities of the successful applicant, which may include salary support, research operations, and relevant educational events.

Applicants should submit a comprehensive curriculum vitae (Common CV), a 2-page outline of their academic program (including research productivity, training activities and academic prominence), a 1 to 2-page description of how the endowment would be used and the name of three referees.
