One project focuses on the role of CD4+ T cells in the lungs of humans with sarcoidosis and in a murine model of sarcoidosis. Other projects will be assigned as applicable. Professional FieldImmunology, molecular biology, molecular genetic research.Supervision ReceivedThis position reports to Dr. Andrew Fontenot, Division Head in the Division of Allergy & Clinical ImmunologySupervision ExercisedPosition will oversee some work performed by Professional Research Assistants (PRAs), will assign tasks, monitor progress and workflow, check the product for timeliness and correctness or soundness. Examples of Work PerformedProcessing of blood and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid from human subjects. Exposure of mice to various antigens and harvesting lungs, spleen and lung-draining lymph nodes for single cell analysis, monoclonal antibody staining of those cells for analysis by flow cytometry, cloning and expressing TCRs on hybridoma cells, proliferation assays, adoptive transfer, immuno-histochemistry and immunofluorescence staining, and Western blotting. Salary and Benefits:The hiring rate (or budgeted rate) for this position has been established at $65,000. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation. - Graduation from an accredited college or university with a PhD or MD in one of these fields of study; Immunology, Molecular Biology.
- Minimum of 5 year(s) experience in one or more of the above fields.
- Pre- and post-doctoral experience in immunology with particular interest in T cell biology.
- In depth knowledge of human and murine immunology, as related to the lung.
- Ability to work independently, meet responsibilities without supervision and excellent written and verbal communication; proven expertise in manuscript submissions.
- Proficient at trouble shooting and problem solving, keeping detail records and maintain the highest level of scientific integrity.
