Position Overview:

The Facilities Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth is seeking to hire a floor technician to join our team of essential workers. This position is responsible for the floor care and maintenance of the university or on special projects. Work involves the performance of operating medium-to-heavy duty floor machines in an assigned building or work area, and special project work around campus. Work requires the application of proper floor care methods and materials as well as some heavy lifting. Employees work under general supervision of assigned supervisory staff in accordance with established routines. Work is classified as essential. Our team works around the clock to sure ensure the continued operation of the campus.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and six months of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous floor maintenance and custodial experience preferred.
  • Custodial equipment repair experience preferred.

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday 4:30PM-1:00AM Some weekends and holidays required. Work is considered essential and irregular hours may be required.

Carrying, Cleaning, Climbing, Crawling, Driving, Kneeling, Lifting up to 10 pounds, Lifting up to 25 pounds, Lifting up to 50 pounds, Pulling , Pushing, Reaching, Sitting, Squatting, Stooping, Bending, Standing, Twisting, Walking, Writing, Grasp, Talk or Hear, Ability to communicate

o:

Sweeping, dust mopping, and mopping.

o:

Custodial duties including: cleaning, disinfecting, vacuuming, dusting, and pick up/removal of trash.

o:

Commercial floor maintenance: scrubbing and buffing floors, stripping/waxing floors, shampooing carpet, spot removal, scrub and recoat, power washing.

o:

Operation of commercial floor care equipment including: automatic scrubbing machines, gas propane/electric buffers, riding scrubbers/vacuums/carpet machines, robotic vacuums/scrubbers.

o:

Operation of golf carts for pick up/removal of trash as well as equipment transport.

o:

All other duties and projects assigned by the supervisor.
