Position Summary

Physicist (East Lansing, MI) Contribute to commissioning, development, operation of FRIB accelerator facility, improve facility performance as measured by beam quality, intensity, power, purity and variety. Design, prototype, develop, implement, maintain modern beam dynamics optimization and simulation codes, and high level physics applications. Qualified candidates will possess a Ph.D. in Physics + 2 years’ exp in any related position in accelerator physics. Must have expertise in accelerator beam physics as applied to heavy-ion accelerators and secondary isotope beams. Must have exp with beam dynamics and electrodynamics computer programs, modern programming languages being used in computational physics such as Python, FORTRAN and C++. Must have exp with the development of parallel computational codes, large computational data analysis, and development of higher order beam optics for production, and separation and purification of secondary isotope beams for nuclear physics experiments.
