Position Summary

Assists in researching, planning, implementing, and managing fund raising activities on behalf of Student Affairs and Services. Coordinatewith the office of Finance and Endowments in University Advancement to ensure that endowment agreements proceed in a timely manner. Coordinate Endowments and Expendable agreements to ensure that all funds are being spent in an appropriate manner. Assists the Development Office in establishing annual budget and guidelines for units. Researches, plans, implements and manages fund raising activities. Plans, produces, and provides on-site supervision of special events in support of alumni relations and development programs. Acts as a host to donors and invited guests at events. Engages with donor and guests to increase contribution levels. Identify alumni/development prospects audiences. Identifies and drafts biographical information on possible prospects for major and special gifts.

Includes gathering alumni/donor history of gifts and pledges and business history. Assist development officer with screening information and preparing for visits. Draft acknowledgements and reports relating to fund raising programs, including the management of memento distribution and delivery plans. Oversee the processing, acknowledgment and tracking of gifts directed to Student Affairs and Services. Provide support to the unit in making travel arrangements, completing travel reimbursement and scheduling meetings. Supervise student team members.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which would normally would be acquired by completing a four year college program in Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in professional fundraising, public relations, marketing, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of donor identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship processes that would normally be acquired by working in a development office for a minimum of two or more years; possession ofa valid vehicle operators license. Experience in a public speakingand professionalwriting. Experience using various Advancement software tools including but not limited to Advance, Cognos, Salesforce, and related software. Previous experience in fundraising, writing proposals, preparingcontent for endowment agreements, presentations, preparingevent budgets and final event budget reports. Experience with preparingshort and long termbudget, finance preparation, forecasting,monitoring and reconciling accountswhile adhering toMSU policy and procedures. Audits all transactions in gift accounts. Knowledge of MSU travel process including travel arrangement and reimbursementof expenses. Experience with Enterprise Business System (EBS)and Kuali.
