Training Specialist (Limited Duration Appointment)

Law Enforcement Innovation Center (LEIC)

Regular Full-time Position

The purpose of this position is for the planning, promotion, facilitation, execution, marketing, and delivery of multiple training services offered by LEIC. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 
The Training Specialist Limited Duration) position assists in the planning, promotion, facilitation, execution, marketing, and delivery of training courses offered by LEIC, specific to the National Rural Law Enforcement Training Center, to include: the pre-training events of scheduling training programs, determining and executing the logistical components of scheduling and supporting instructors, recruiting and registering participants, securing training materials, traveling to, and assisting in/facilitating the set-up and delivery of training programs, and post-delivery follow through.  Course content delivered includes Leadership, Domestic Violence, Crime Scene Investigation and other specialized law enforcement fields.  Training settings span from indoor classrooms, the Internet, and lecture halls to outdoor sites involving human decomposition and skeletal remains recovery. This position will also recommend and participate in the development of new training initiatives and programs and assist coworkers in the delivery of their courses as needed. This position will manage the technical components of delivering on-line programs. This position will make recommendations regarding, and assist with, the recruiting, hiring, and payroll functions of teaching associates.  This position will provide instructional guidance to teaching associates. This position will provide front-line forecast and review of relevant program budgets and provide input to agency leadership to ensure the budgets are developed and executed in a responsible manner. This position will develop and maintain relationships with funding agencies, federal/state/local law enforcement related stakeholder agencies, and other institutions of higher learning, with the goal of successfully designing, developing, funding and delivering excellent law enforcement-based training programs.



Qualifications
Required Qualifications: 

Education:   
Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred, in Criminal Justice, Sociology or related field.

Experience:  
Minimum of three years’ work-related experience in service to the public/external stakeholders or training delivery.  Law enforcement experience required.

Skills:   
Oral, written communication and advanced computer skills are required.   The ability to plan, coordinate, manage, promote and complete assignments in a timely manner is critical.  Must have the ability to represent LEIC and form relationships and partnerships with subject matter experts, potential stakeholders, law enforcement professionals, educators, staff, and University employees.  Ability to multi-task is essential to maintain control of the variety of responsibilities of this position, including effectively prioritizing assignments and tracking their completion.  Must have demonstrated skills in developing and delivering on-line programs. Must be able to make presentations to stakeholders and participants marketing LEIC programs. Must obtain or have a valid TN driver’s license.

Location:
Based in Oak Ridge, however, travel will be required with this position.

This position will require occasional night and weekend work. 

Each employee that drives a vehicle for work-related business must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
