Within the department of Tech Dining, the Catering Manager provides day-to-day management of Tech Dining catering. Responsibilities include managing catering staff and ensuring day-to-day catering objectives and events are consistently met and standards are maintained to ensure the best campus catering experience possible. This position will interact on a regular basis with many levels of faculty, staff, students, and vendors associated with Tech Dining.Responsibilities
Operational Tasks - 30
Responsible for operational tasks of catering events on campus including staffing, communication with the production staff and ensuring the delivery of quality of service and a superb customer experience.
Budget Planning - 20
Works with the Assistant Director of Catering to plan, develop, and manage unit budget to ensure fiscal controls (including cost of goods sold, labor targets and controllable expenses).
Hiring and Training - 15
Hires, trains and manages catering staff and related catering events and activities
Coordination of Events - 15
Coordinates the catering plans and events with the culinary team and other members of staff to ensure the successful execution of multiple daily events
Sanitation & Safety Leadership - 10
Ensures that the appropriate sanitation, organization, and safety standards are met by using checklists, performing hands-on supervision, and follow up on all catered events to ensure excellence.
Labeling and Compliance - 5
Ensures labeling requirements are met and compliance with allergen containment procedures.
Implementation of goals and programs - 5
Implements operation specific sustainability goals and programs.
High School Diploma/GED or Vocational School Diploma
Other Required Qualifications
Current ServSafe Certification or other Georgia approved food safety certification.
3-5 years of job related experience
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent customer service and employee relations skills needed.
Ability to work a very flexible schedule.
Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Ability to provide culinary training and insight for special dietary needs.
An ability to think outside the box to provide an exceptional catering experience while focusing on program growth and retention.
