Job Summary: The Events Coordinator directs the planning, implementation, execution, follow-up and budget of events occurring both on and off campus. This position is demanding and vital to the overall image of the assigned area in terms of attracting financial resources, quality students, corporate participation, and external support. Duties may include: conceptualization of event theme; creation of invitation lists; site selection; seating arrangements; inventory management; negotiating with florist, caterers, hotel sales directors and print shops for maximum cost containment; management of on-site contract staff, clerical support and student assistants; development and management of event budget.
Additional Department Summary: This position creates, plans and executes all special events for the Alumni Association. This position is responsible for assisting in the planning, organization and promotion of chapter events. Responsible for attending chapter events requiring extensive travel. In addition, this position is responsible for managing the alumni tour program.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience in events to include planning, directing, budgeting and promotion; OR an associate's degree and at least four (4) years of experience in events to include planning, directing, budgeting and promotion; OR a high school diploma or GED and at least six (6) years of experience in events to include planning, directing, budgeting and promotion; OR Master's degree or higher. Related student or Graduate Assistant, Intern, or student oriented experience will be considered. Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier.
Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of international travel and customer service.
