Some evening work required.Primary Purpose of Position:
Oversees the operation of the Chemistry Stockroom through the supervision of staff and students workers. Supports the operation of the Teaching Laboratories by working directly with the Laboratory Coordinators and ensuring that: laboratory support personnel are available to assist with lab operations; laboratories are properly stocked with needed equipment and reagents; waste is disposed of properly; and safety protocols are followed.Minimum Education/Experience:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and two years of general research experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of general research or laboratory experience preferably including supervision of others; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Familiarity with a variety of the research fields concepts, practices and procedures. Demonstrated experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.Essential Job Duties:
Oversees the operation of the Chemistry Stockroom
1.Ensures that chemicals required for the teaching labs are prepared appropriately and distributed into the labs as needed.
2.Ensures the Stockroom complies with Safety Regulations
3.Supervises two full-time staff employees; hires and supervises student workers
4.Ensures that Hazardous Waste is collected from the Teaching and Research labs when needed.
5.Ensures that Hazardous Waste is stored according to regulations.
Contacts Facilities Management when repairs to the building are needed. Coordinates with the people impacted when repairs are needed.
Bachelors science degree in Chemistry preferred;
Must have science background, preferably in Chemistry;
Must have basic computer skills, including Word and Excel;
Experience managing people and experience planning and executing projects in collaboration with others; and
Effective communication skills.Work Location:
