General SummaryDirector of the Honors Program is the primary campus leader and advocate for Honors students, staff, and program initiatives. The Director works with the offices of Enrollment Management and Academic Support Services and the academic schools and departments to recruit undergraduate applicants of the highest quality.
Additional InformationThe Illinois State University Honors Program is seeking an Interim Honors Director July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022.
The mission of the Honors Program is to engage, challenge, and support academically motivated and diverse students from all disciplines. The seven member staff focus on advising, Honors Learning Experiences, and Dimensions of Honors Learning to customize students’ education and add value to their degrees.
1. An earned doctorate or terminal degree qualifications and eligible for, or currently maintains, the position of a tenured Associate or Full Professor in their discipline at Illinois State University.
Desired Qualifications1. Prior experience/interactions with an Honors Program.
2. A successful history in higher education, evidence of effective community involvement and leadership,
3. A demonstrated dedication to excellence in teaching, research, service, and civic engagement
4. Experience with personnel management.
5. A demonstrated ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others.
6. A demonstrated ability to manage budgets.
7. Evidence of a strong commitment to the principles of student and faculty diversity, equity, and inclusion.
8. Leadership and communication skills necessary to inspire others.
9. Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills.
10. Evidence of creative, sustained, and successful extramural fundraising and grant-writing efforts.
Core work hours are from 8:00-4:30 Monday-Friday, with occasional evening or weekend duties to support Honors Programming needs.
Functional ExpectationsMust be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Ability to effectively communicate on a daily basis.
2. Ability to work for extended periods at computer workstation.
3. Ability to conduct or attend meetings in various locations on and off campus.
4. Ability to maintain a high level of concentration.
