Summary of Duties:
Provides detailed information to prospective and current students, parents, and visitors in person, by phone, and via email regarding admissions, student accounts and/or financial aid. This includes assisting and leading other Cougar Center staff by researching answers to technical financial aid and account questions, processing student documents and posting student account transactions. Exercises professional judgment in independently advising current students to navigate financial aid process and understand account charges and payment options. Acts as back up cashier, which includes processing transactions and balancing Point of Sale/till daily.
Requires in-depth knowledge of university policies and procedures in order to serve both prospective and current students without referring students to another office for answers. Solid understanding and application of enrollment services policies related to student accounts, admissions, financial aid and registration. Ability to effectively communicate university and department policy information to a diverse audience.
Required Qualifications:
High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience.
Additional Requirements:
Cash handling experience.
At times, remote work is required for this position. Successful applicants must have access to a high speed internet connection that is secure and reliable. Strong technical skills in online meeting software (i.e., Zoom) is essential to perform the responsibilities listed above at a distance when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates or bachelor’s degree.
Customer service experience in a higher education environment (financial aid, scholarships, student accounts, etc.)
Accurate and effective communication skills; both verbal and written.
Prefer experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint.
