Job Summary:To assist with various library functions and to help maintain hours of library operations. Customer service including, assisting library patrons with using the catalog and databases to find materials and with technology such as printing, etc. Circulation functions including checking in and checking out materials, issuing library cards, tracking library materials, etc. Processing new materials. Shelving materials, keeping shelves in order, inventory, etc. Assisting with library displays and a variety of promotions. Being the person on duty, staffing the circulation desk.
Reports To:Diane Adler, Director of Library Services-Gillette College
Education/Qualifications:•Good Conduct and Academic Standing with the college
•Gillette College Student currently enrolled
•Cumulative GPA is 2.0 or greater
•In most cases, must be able to work one evening (4:00pm-8pm Monday-Thursday) and or one weekend shift
•Basic knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
•Excellent customer service skills
•Ability to independently interpret policy, make decisions, and determine work- flow without direct supervision
•Ability to learn on the job and apply creative solutions to routine functions and processes which may include working online.
•Multi-tasking. Work well under variable directives and situations
•Frequent interruptions
•Long periods of time working with computers
•Indoors, walking, standing bending, reaching overhead.

Responsibility/Duty:•Staff the reference/circulation desk, including one evening (4-8 Monday-Thursday) and/or one weekend shift
•Assist patrons with research, utilizing online and print resources
•Assist with promotional displays and library programs
•Shelving library materials, keeping library stacks in order including shelf reading and inventory
•Assist with ordering and processing new library materials (stamping, covering, etc.)
•Light cleaning including counters, books, desks, etc.
•Assist with usage tracking, including data entry
