Job Summary:

To provide support to the Director of Student Affairs. This position encompasses aspects of Counseling, ADA, Housing, Campus Life and other Student Affairs responsibilities. This position will assist in research, managing/coordinating office responsibilities, answering student questions, conducting errands as needed, and assisting with programming.

Susan Serge, Student Affairs

Education/Qualifications:

•Good Conduct and Academic Standing with the college
•Gillette College Student currently enrolled
•Cumulative GPA is 2.0 or greater

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

•Knowledge of FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) and basic understanding of HIPPA
•Excellent customer service skills and etiquette. Student must have the ability to communicate well with a variety of individuals in a professional manner both orally and in writing.
•Ability to adapt to changing work situations and responsibilities, maintain professional boundaries, keep calm and think clearly when interacting with potentially stressful or agitated students
•Strong written skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
•Strong computer skills desired in Windows; MS PowerPoint; Excel, and MS Word and strong research skills

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

•Moderate periods of sitting and standing; some lifting may be required
•Schedule will be determined by staff. Hours will be during M-F between 8-5 unless otherwise specified in the staff schedule

Responsibility/Duty:

•Research information pertaining to Student Affairs best practices, various disabilities, standards of practices in disability services and counseling.
•Assist with creating, copying, and distributing flyers, forms, informational handouts, brochures, informational packets, and posters for Student Affairs
•Assist with programming and campus presentations for areas within Student Affairs
•Assist with special projects or other job duties as assigned and assist with clerical support
•Brainstorm and implement creative program ideas in an attempt to de-stigmatize counseling
•Other duties as assigned
