The Raymond A. Mason School of Business at William & Mary seeks an accomplished, strategic, and collaborative finance and administration professional to serve as Associate Dean for Finance and Administration.

Reporting to the Dean of the Mason School of Business, the Associate Dean for Finance and Administration serves as the chief administrative and finance officer for the school and acts as a trusted adviser to the Dean. This role is responsible for establishing and executing short and long-term goals and initiatives, and ensuring alignment of resources with the School’s priorities, goals and initiatives. The Associate Dean leads and coordinates the non-academic operations and functions in the School, currently including Finance, Information Technology, Building Operations, Business/Data Intelligence, Human Resources, and Marketing to ensure resources are contributing positively to the accomplishment of the School’s operating and longer-term strategic plans.

Functioning as the strategic financial counselor to the Dean, the Associate Dean will apply a sophisticated understanding of the economic forces shaping higher education in all decision-making and strategic planning for growth and revenue enhancement. The Associate Dean works closely with the Dean and others to develop and direct the School’s financial strategy and planning processes to establish a roadmap for academic and operational decisions and for appraising the School’s financial position, organizational structure, and opportunities for growth.

The successful candidate will bring a collaborative workstyle and an analytical mindset, in addition to deep experience in finance, business intelligence and use of technology along with experience leading a broader range of administrative functions such as IT, facilities, and human resources. The candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and a record of establishing and maintaining productive, collaborative relationships in a complex, distributed organization. A strong foundation in finance, financial modeling, analytics and budgeting coupled with effective, proactive communication is necessary for success in this role. A demonstrated passion for providing excellent customer service, promoting equity and inclusion, and for building trust and collaboration must be evident in all engagement and undertakings.

The Associate Dean will have financial and operational leadership experience in a college or university, or a comparably complex environment. They will bring excellent written and oral communication skills and exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and team-building skills, and will demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional growth as well as a commitment to the mentorship of staff.

Valued but not required additional qualifications include an MBA or related degree, experience in a business school environment, and familiarity with both federal and state statutes and regulations related to finances and accounting.
