The University of Arizona Athletics Department invites applications for the position of Junior Athletic Trainer, Extended Temporary Employee. This is an opportunity to build upon and develop practical experience in athletic training and hone skills that play a critical role in the methodology of the Sphere of Influence. The successful candidate must be extremely driven, a self-starter, exceptionally organized and still present a self-effacing demeanor. This position will have the opportunity to work with other athletic trainers, weight room staff, psychologist, dietitian, and medical staff. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Associate Athletics Director, CATS – Medical Services.
This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position.

- Prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses
- Assist with first aid and emergency care for student-athletes during practices and competitions
- Evaluate and treat athletic injuries
- Assist the athletic trainers with medical record keeping
- Assist with the coverage of the athletic training room; including the coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for home and away competitions
- Assist the athletic trainers with daily treatment and rehabilitation of student-athletes
- Will need to work extended hours including nights and weekends
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to operate office machinery (fax machines, computer, telephone, etc.)
- Ability to work with computer programs such as Excel and Word
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task with frequent interruptions
- Dedication and motivation to initiate, lead and support value-added projects
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Knowledge of position related NCAA, Pac-12, and University of Arizona rules and compliance
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and has a positive demeanor
- Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to plan, establish priorities and successfully manage multiple priority projects
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relations
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels, and project a positive, professional attitude
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Graduate from the NATA approved athletic training curriculum
- NATABOC certified
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
•Master’s Degree in athletic training or related field.
