Posting DetailsPosting Number: 0601259 Position Category: Academic Services Professional Job Title: Summer Success Academy and Freshman Leadership Coordinator Position Code: 00400X Position Type: Staff Department: Enrollment Management Nature of Work: The Summer Success Academy and Leadership Academy Coordinator is primarily responsible for the administration of the President's Summer Success Academy at Albany State University and a subsequent Freshman Leadership Academy in the Fall and Spring of each year, built from SSA scholars who successfully complete the summer program. The SSA Coordinator also serves as the Success Coach for identified SSA students in their first year and will also be an informal member of the AARC team. Work is performed under the supervision of the Executive Director of Student Success. Training and Experience: -must have a working knowledge of general university regulations and operations
- must have a working knowledge of the requirements and expectations of all undergraduate degree programs at the University
- must have a working knowledge of student information, advising, and degree tracking systems
- must have working knowledge of student leadership development concepts
- must have a working knowledge of program or curriculum development
- Must have a mastery knowledge of advising concepts and approaches
- must have a mastery knowledge of diverse student populations and issues associated with these groups
- must have mastery knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and powerpoint
- must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- must have the ability to work within university guidelines to plan small and large events
- must have the ability to balance multiple priorities
- must have the ability to collect and report on data

A Bachelor's degree in any related area with three years of experience working with underserved college populations. A Master's Degree is preferred.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in summer bridge programs, new student orientation, or programming for students at two-year colleges.
Evening and weekend availability is required. Testing Requirements: None Illustrative Examples of Work: - Summer Success Academy:
- responsible for collaborating with the Exec. Dir. of Student Success in developing the theme and framework for each academy.
- responsible for hiring, training, and supervision of all support personnel involved in the SSA, including SSA Ambassadors and invited guests and mentors. Also responsible for collaborating with academic departments and enrollment management to identify appropriate faculty for instruction and course design, and assigning sufficient academic support.
- responsible for serving as primary advisor and success coach for SSA students identified as access students, meeting with them bi-weekly during their first year.
- responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the program and reporting on that data to the Exec. Director for Student Success.
- Responsible for supporting administrative personnel in processing contracts, hiring paperwork, and funding requests.
- responsible for collaborating with University Communications to build an effective marketing and communication plan for the program.
- responsible for structuring events to promote a bonding of the cohort and building meaningful relationships with and between the participants.

- Freshman Leadership Academy:
- responsible for facilitating cross-campus collaboration with student affairs, academic affairs, and enrollment management in developing the theme and framework for the academy.
- responsible for hiring , training, and supervision of all support personnel involved in Freshman Leadership Academy, including facilitators and invited guests and mentors.
- responsible for developing a strategy of recruiting candidates for FLA and establishing effective networks of communication to this group.
- responsible for planning and coordinating networking events that utilize local leadership, prominent alumni, and current student leaders.

-Student Success Coach for SSA Students
- informing students about academic requirements, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives, and assisting students in the selection of courses.
- working with relative departments to resolve student issues or investigate student complaints.
- processing and tracking relative student forms and documents, including transient requests, grade change requests, schedule change requests, and withdrawal requests.
- referring students to appropriate campus departments for additional services and assistance. Posting Date: 04-06-2021 Closing Date:
