Information Architect


The Information Architect is responsible for the overall design and development of the information architecture at Indiana Wesleyan University. The Information Architect will translate business requirements into conceptual and logical data models with a focus on reducing redundancy of data and improving the efficiency in which it moves through systems. The Information Architect will leads efforts for designing data pipelines to make the appropriate data accessible for analytics and data users across the operational and academic departments at IWU.


Position reports to the Chief Data Officer (CDO) with a secondary reporting line to the Enterprise Architect


Designs relational databases to support business enterprise applications and data modeling according to project requirements for data acquisition and securityDevelops architectural strategies for data modeling, design and implementation to meet stated requirements for metadata management and operational data storesSupports database administrators, network designers and IT personnel to create effective and secure methods for data backup and recoveryDevelops consistent structures, processes, and formats toward a standardized data management structureCollaborates with key stake holders in defining data models and analytics to support organizational objectives, operational initiatives, and monitoringDevelops complex reports utilizing analytical tools and expertise to meet organizational requirementsPartners with the Enterprise Architect to influence, understand, and implement the Enterprise StrategyHelps establish data maps for each line of business to achieve the Enterprise Data StrategyOversees the documentation of all architecture design and analysis workParticipates in due diligence of new software purchases and has an eye-to-the-market for technologies that can continue to support the vision of data and analytics at IWUSupports solution development and Technology / Architecture selection activities and assesses technical architectureIdentifies and prioritizes critical data and analytics uses cases and assesses their requirements relative to architectural needs Participates in data governance committeesQUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline (e.g., Information Systems)

Experience & Skills

Experience with cloud data solutions and architectures (GCP, AWS, Azure).Experience architecting and delivering analytics solutions (data design, data quality)Familiarity with advanced information management practicesFamiliarity with advanced modeling approaches, tools, and model repositoriesExperience in gathering and analysis of system requirementsExperience with common data warehouse and data lake architecture concepts and best practicesProfessional SQL programming experienceAbility to apply multiple solutions to business problemsAbility to rapidly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologiesInterpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and ability to work collaboratively in a complex environment.LIMITATIONS AND DISCLAIMER
