Biostatisticians support data analysis, report production, planning, coordination, and conduct of multi-center research studies. This position will demonstrate broad expertise in communication and technical knowledge. The degree of specialized statistical knowledge, communication abilities, and the level of original thinking, input on direction and content of an analysis will be critical to the level of independence expected in working on reports, manuscript collaborations and data analyses. This position is being recruited at the Contributing level under the Career Banding program.Education and Experience:
MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE Master’s degree in a discipline related to the field assigned; or Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and two years of research/analysis, preferably with one year in a supervisory role; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
This position requires an understanding of scientific principles, methods, results presentation and reporting. A thorough knowledge of applied aspects of observational and clinical study design, data analysis, research data management and statistical programming is required. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SAS software are required. The employee will need to understand the maintenance of data security and protect confidentiality of study data to ensure the protection of human subjects involved in the research.
The successful candidate will need to be able to perform the following activities: 1) assist the PI, Senior Biostatistician and Project Manager in the planning, organization, management, and analysis of data for study management reports and DSMB reports, 2) plan and prepare new tables by requesting and reviewing programming and output for data reporting included in management reports, DSMB reporting, and special reports to NIH and FDA, 3) plan and operationalize a blind replicate (split sample) program including CRF content, CRF development, and data analysis, 3) plan quality control analyses in consultation with a senior biostatistician, 4)participate in the development and maintenance of data dictionary, 5) assist with the statistical analysis and results reporting for scientific publications. This position requires an understanding of scientific principles, methods, presentation and reporting. A through proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, and SAS, SUDAAN, STATA or R are required to perform the work of this position. Attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate results are critical in this statistical support position for a clinical trial. A degree or substantial prior coursework in biostatistics or epidemiology is preferred.
