The primary purpose of this position is to help support the research activities of the UNC Prematurity Program. The candidate will work primarily with the Manuck Research Team in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Program for Prematurity Prevention.
The candidate will work directly with Dr. Manuck, and will assist with (1) dataset cleaning; (2) data analysis including univariable analyses and logistic regressions; (3) incorporation publicly available environmental, social determinants of health, and other geographic data, and to a lesser extent, (4) assist with scientific abstract and manuscript writing and preparation of graphics and powerpoint materials for meetings and presentations. Experience working with more advanced analytic techniques and analysis of genetic and epigenetic data (e.g., CpG methylation) is preferred.
Dr. Manuck’s research projects focus on prematurity and preeclampsia cohort studies with clinical and biospecimen data. Work will include some effort on two ongoing NIH funded projects (R01-MD011609 and K24-ES031131) that examines genetic epigenetic, and gene expression differences among women with recurrent preterm birth compared to those who deliver at term.
This is a part-time position and is ideal for the candidate with this skill set who is looking for additional work hours or for a flexible schedule (e.g., working around childcare schedule). Though regular check-in meetings by video conference with Dr. Manuck are expected, the position can be entirely remote if desired.Education and Experience:
