Description of Work:

The Facilities Services Division, Housekeeping Services Department is recruiting part-time housekeepers to work in the residence halls during the academic year, summer break, and between semesters.

Pay for this position is $11.97/per hour.

Housekeeping Services is comprised of a staff of more than 400 employees, who provide 24-hour service, including providing daily cleaning service and floor care for approximately 245 buildings on campus.

General duties include vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, disinfecting floors, toilets, showers, sinks, and other restroom fixtures, as well as detailed cleaning of vacated student residence halls & apartments as needed. Employees provide routine, detailed, and daily cleaning of assigned campus building interior and exterior areas, including, but not limited to, student residence halls & apartments, offices, lounges, restrooms, classrooms, entrances, exits, and stairways.

Employees are required to adhere to safety requirements by wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.

Education and Experience:

Minimum Education and Experience:

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special certification may be required for some of these positions.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Work requires demonstrated ability to understand and follow work orders and product instructions; must have the flexibility to adjust work schedule.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Six (6) months of institutional experience preferred; strong preference for housekeeping experience in a university housing or medical setting and experience working with commercial cleaning equipment.

Special Physical and Mental Requirements:

Work is routine and repetitive in nature and may require strenuous physical exertion. Applicants must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 50 lbs., with or without accommodation.
