UTS- Temporary Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technician
TemporaryEssential Job Duties:
This position would be classified as an entry-level automotive technician. The candidate would be responsible for performing preventative maintenance on all University owned vehicles and equipment including cars, vans, trucks (light/medium/heavy duty), buses, UTV/ATV’s, and lawn service equipment (mowers, tractors, chippers, etc.). The preventative maintenance on these assets includes, but is not limited to oil and filter changes, wiper blade replacement, light bulb replacement, and basic wiring repairs, tire mounting/balancing/rotations/repairs, state inspections (safety and emissions), minor brake repairs, minor steering/suspension repairs, and any other maintenance needed within the candidate’s scope of experience. This position will also require the technician to assist with road service calls (towing, jump starts, lockouts, flat tire repairs, etc.) on University owned vehicles within county limits. This position will require the candidate to be able to work in a non-climate controlled shop (heat only, no a/c) where temperatures will vary depending on the season. All tools, equipment, and uniforms will be provided at no charge.Is Time Limited:

Must be able to communicate effectively verbally with supervisors and the general public and understand verbal and written instructions and other communications regarding work assignments and other matters. Basic computer skills required for email communication, leave and basic job functions.
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 60 pounds occasionally with or without reasonable accommodations. A valid North Carolina Driver’s license. License must be maintained as a condition of employment. Experience in the automotive, diesel, small equipment field.
1. Experience in the automotive field with basic knowledge of preventative maintenance procedures and parts.
2. Good attitude, be a team player, and willingness to learn new things
3. The ability to lift up to 75lbs with or without accommodations
4. Current and valid state of North Carolina driver’s license
5. The ability to communicate clearly in English
A current state of North Carolina inspection license and 3-5 years of experience as an automotive technicianRequired License or Certification:
